There are a couple of special dishes in Essaouira, and here are three of them that should be on your radar if youโre visiting!
The Souiri Tagine
Unlike the typical saucy Moroccan tajine, the traditional Souiri goat meat tajine is gratinated, giving it a crispy and flavorful crust.

Souiri families serve a unique type of couscous that reflects the diverse culinary traditions of Morocco. Unlike the more common meat-based couscous, this version features fish, vegetables, and a sweet twist with raisins and caramelized onions.
This unique flavor profile is particularly appreciated in the coastal city of Essaouira.
Fish and Seafood
Essaouira is renowned for its fresh seafood. Enjoy grilled fish right off the port, fried fish dishes, or unique tajines like sardine meatballs and conger eel in sweet sauce, a local specialty. Fresh oysters with lemon are also a must-try
