Salam sisters anyone had any experience traveling to Switzerland on a budget? I’m considering staying at the campsites specifically. Or Airbnb Lmk if you had similar experience
Solo in Switzerland
Hello, I’ll be traveling to Swiss solo in June. Can’t give insights on the accommodation yet but I booked Alpine Garden, Capsule Hotel in Zurich. Its located in Zurich airport. I booked this hotel because I feel like it is safe to stay in the airport since it’s a crowd place + CCTVs are around. They also have female capsule only area and separate female toilet and they have great reviews too! Personally I think the price is reasonable for budgeted Traveller like me. I will be purchasing Swiss Travel pass too. I checked at Klook website they have promo 4+1 days for the price of 4 days which is a bargain but the promo has ended on 14 May but I would recommend you to check frequently if there’s any ongoing promo in the future
I’ve just booked a trip to Geneva for Aug, will find a hostel inshallah and get the pass
I have traveled to Switzerland. My advice is to ensure you have a Swiss travel pass, it will help you save money when traveling by train or bus around Switzerland. My only experience when staying in Switzerland was only 4 days in Zurich. I used Airbnb and got a discount.
loved this! the swiss travel pass is indeed helpful. also swiss’ train system is the best I feel in Europe they’re not so strict, less people, no need to reserve seats and you can just enter and go out easily. I’ve never stayed in campsites or airbnb in Swiss so would love to hear your experience on this if you choose to do so.
have another question, is it mandatory to get a travel insurance for the whole trip for Schengen?
Not necessarily but if your visa requires it then you should get one. Plus it gives extra peace of mind — especially if you plan on taking flights around schengen countries because sadly it’s known for people missing their flights during peak season like summer due too crowds. so insurance helps cover and reimburse if the worst case scenario happens.
