All Your Questions Answered – Even FIT (or Solo-friendly) Packages!
Tired of DM-ing travel/tour operators to learn about their packages? Or are you getting a slow reply / no seen at all?
Perhaps – you’re curious if they have FIT (Free, Independent Traveler-friendly) packages?
Best to get your questions answered, directly by the destination/activity masters at the MATTA fair themselves.
The best thing about attending travel fairs is that if you’re unhappy with what one tour person is saying, options are there, easily! So you can move on to the next vendor, make up your mind on the most realistic solution to your solo travel needs.
All Types Of Muslim-friendly Travel Offerings
Gone are the days when Muslim-friendly was just targeted to Umrah only. These days, expect glamping offerings, cooking classes, and even water excursions to be so Muslim-friendly that you won’t even realize that solo travel as a Muslimah is no big deal anymore.
There might even be sports hijab, luggage, and burkini on sale during MATTA fair!
So save your money for online shipment, or parking/transport fees to the mall and get your travel essentials done, right at MATTA fair.
Also, if you’re hungry, pretty much every food offered here is Halal so there’s no need to worry about that! From local cuisines like Laksa and Dodol to international delights such as hot dogs, takoyaki, and gelato, come here with an empty stomach!
Different Levels have different Highlights! – Performances & Delicacies from Different Booths
If you have never been to MITEC, just know that the convention center is huge!
Sprawling across three levels, each level serves different purposes. The lower ground is mostly targeted to the local agencies and tourism boards. At different times of the event day(s), you’ll see cultural performances and might even stand a chance to win a free / discounted travel package!
Ngajat Dance & Sape Music Feels At Sarawak Tourism Booth!
Our Editor even saw a Ngajat Dance and heard sounds of Sape music playing at the Sarawak Tourism Booth at this time. There were also some Q&A(s) for those who were keen to check out Sarawak of Malaysian Borneo.

The second floor is packed with tour operators, and ticketing agents so yes if you’re wondering…. Alongside Malaysia Airlines are special airline fairs from Emirates, and Air Asia on their FREE Seats, ANA Japan, and so much more! If you have to focus on two airlines here, our suggestion is:
- Air Asia for their Nairobi deals from November onwards or FREE Seats campaign.

Malaysia Airlines Special Unveiling & Promotion
From the lower ground until the third floor, you’ll see an expanse of Malaysia Airlines experience – yes, we tried it ourselves!
Be it Journify, EnrichMoney, or flight deals on sale, there’s just so much going on at the many Malaysia Airlines booths throughout MATTA Fair grounds.
The best part of all Malaysia Airlines’ offering to us, is none other than the one in Level 2 where you can experience the unveiling of their innovative Business and Economy seats. If that’s not enough to win your heart, have a seat on the augmented reality filter that showcases a 360° cabin walk-through.

Throughout the three-day event, the Halal-famous carrier will unveil new routes and rumor has it, that Manchester United Legends will be there this weekend (OMG! right).
Multi-currency Banks To Support Your Solo Journeys!
Of course, in a world of digital transactions and multi-currencies, having a supportive bank is crucial to enable the smooth journey of your solo travels.
And by that, we mean the ability to cash out in local currency when in need, or pay for your meal on the go!
A look at the map on MATTA Fair will easily point you to the bank you need!
What’s your favorite Multi-currency bank? We LOVE Wise and being based in Malaysia, EnrichMoney by Malaysia Airlines is also heavily used!
MATTA Fair as a Muslimah Solo Traveler – What Are Our Recommendations?
In essence, MATTA Fair is a great avenue for any Muslimah Solo Traveler currently in Malaysia to discover what and where to go next in this vast world.
MST-vetted tips and tricks:
- Come early, especially this weekend from 6 – 8 September 2024. The earlier you come, the more travel opportunities you get!
- Bring an umbrella because you won’t know if you’re going to see the scorching hot tropical sun or the moody tropical rainstorm (yes, our Editor had to walk to the venue and throughout the entire pavement the weather was…. unpredictable)
- Check their event page and lock in any slots that you want to experience (maybe it’s a meet and greet with a travel ambassador or the MU Legends?)
- Use the shuttle bus (pick-ups are from Sunway Putra Mall and KL Sentral only) so you won’t have to beat the crazy KL traffic to MITEC.

MATTA Fair Tickets – Do I Need To Pay?
- MATTA Fair is free for everyone to visit. You’ll instead get tiny stickers on every level as memorabilia
That’s all from us, we hope this has been a helpful guide for you to imagine what MATTA fair is like!
